Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Specialist to join our eCommerce Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the consistency and accuracy of data across all vendor partners within our product catalog. Your work will enable clean, reliable data that powers site functionality and ensures an optimal customer shopping experience, critical to the success of our online marketplace platform. The ideal candidate will have experience working with high volumes of data in the eCommerce industry and a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt in a fast-paced, start up environment.

Responsibilities

  • Product Data Normalization: Clean, normalize, and enrich product data, from various suppliers, ensuring accurate and consistent attributes (e.g., names, descriptions, categories, pricing, etc.) for seamless integration into merchandise catalog.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits of data to identify inconsistencies or inaccuracies, and take corrective actions to ensure the highest level of data integrity.
  • Collaboration: Support external vendor partners through the product onboarding process, securing missing or incomplete data points, and ensuring accurate and   timely inputs. Partner cross-functionally with our copy and creative team for marketing review prior to site load.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in data normalization, data processing, or database management in an eCommerce environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly detail-oriented with the ability to spot and correct data anomalies in large datasets.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for identifying and resolving data inconsistencies, with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets: Specifically, with vlookups and other formulas to support data matching and transformation
  • Knowledge of the Retail Industry: Understanding of pricing structures, margin calculations, and industry-specific pricing models (e.g., wholesale vs. retail pricing, bulk discounts, tiered pricing).
  • Communication: Ability to communicate data-related concepts and solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience  managing data specifically in a marketplace environment a plus
  • Experience working with and manipulating image files including cropping, basic photoshop, etc. preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with the Trade as a customer segment preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with Shopify as a platform and its data structure preferred but not required
